"Nils Ericsson"

Nils Ericson's statue stands on Centralplan outside Stockholm Central Station's main entrance. The statue depicts the engineer and railway builder Nils Ericson. The statue was created by sculptor John Börjeson and unveiled on September 8, 1893.
Nils Ericson worked throughout his life mainly with infrastructure projects. He was involved in the creation of Trollhätte locks, new locks at Slussen in Stockholm and also creator of the Saima canal in Finland. He was also one of the most central figures in the creation of the Swedish railway. Nils was also the initiator of the Sambindingsbanan's route, which caused great discussion at the time, and also the location of Stockholm's central station. In the end, it was his proposal that was implemented and the connecting line and Stockholm's central station were inaugurated in 1871. //Wikipedia
